He has natural scoring tendencies and can impact the game with or without the basketball. This season Aponte has showcased that he’s more than comfortable taking and making big shots along with elite shooting mechanics. His one-two step into his jumper from a standstill point or running in transition and setting his feet in time to release a good shot. The most impressive component to Aponte’s shooting is how efficient he has been when curling off screens (in numerous directions).
On the court this season, offensively Aponte’s coach has him spotting up, running the baseline and curling to get his shots off and get open. , Even though this is fairly foreign to the freshman guard, it will bode well for his development and future. In travel ball Aponte is allowed to freelance more and show off his entire skill set.
